Once you’ve launched, regularly remind the community where, when, and how they can start borrowing with different types of communications.
A brief video or reel explaining the process can help reach a wider audience.
Get some leaflets printed so people can take one with them when they come in and help spread the word among their family and friends.
Consider some small posters or flyers with project information and a QR code to your website that could be put up locally to reach people who may not find you easily online.
Wherever possible, ensure everyone who comes in to collect a reserved item or wants to find out more has a positive experience, positive word of mouth can make a real difference.
Keep track of which items are popular at different times of year and think about how you can use that information to encourage people to borrow more frequently.
Check out the social media pages of other established members of the network to see how they are marketing their Library and items.
Make sure the photographs of your items are clear and easy to see both on your catalogue pages and on social media so your borrower knows exactly what to expect.
If you feel comfortable ask your borrower to leave a review for your project on your social media pages or perhaps even share a photo/ post of the item in action!
We have found that posts featuring people using their borrowed items or what they have made using the items are really popular.
We would also recommend posts that compare the cost of borrowing versus buying the same item!
