You might want to start telling your community what you’re working on and getting their input from the start, or you might want to wait until you’ve made more progress.
When you’re ready to start engaging your community, social media is a great way to reach local people – we can support you via our own channels and we’d advise you to set up your own too.
You can get more insight into social media for Library of Things in our recent online workshop and related content - which you can find here in the dedicated Social Media Chapter here: https://www.benthyg-cymru.org/resource-chapters/social-media---getting-the-most-out-of-it-
It’s important to remember that not everyone uses social media channels, so make sure you tailor your communications to your community by using traditional media too. If you have a small budget you may want to print some flyers and take to accessible local buildings such as community centres, libraries, housing associations, schools, leisure centres and faith centres.
You may also find local businesses willing to publicise for you, such as hairdressers, cafes, and corner shops.
All communities are different, and you are the people who will know them best.
We’re working towards making all our communications bi-lingual and would encourage you to communicate in Welsh as well as English wherever possible.
