Board Directors

Join Our Board – We Need Experienced Changemakers Benthyg Cymru is Wales’ Library of Things network — helping people borrow what they need, when they need it. We’re looking for experienced board members and professionals to help guide us through a critical phase of development and transformation. If you bring expertise in governance, finance, HR, fundraising, law, strategy, or systems leadership — and care deeply about sustainability and social justice — we’d love to hear from you.

We’re Recruiting Experienced Board Members

Benthyg Cymru is entering a pivotal phase — and we’re seeking experienced individuals to join our board of directors and help shape our next chapter.

We are Wales’ Library of Things network — helping people borrow rather than buy, so we can all save money, reduce waste, and build stronger, more connected communities. Rooted in grassroots action, we’ve grown into a national movement. Now, we're focusing on stabilising our governance, strengthening our internal culture, and embedding sustainable growth.

To support this transition, we’re actively recruiting people with experience in:

  • Governance, strategy, or systems leadership
  • Financial oversight or fundraising
  • HR, employment law, or organisational development
  • Circular economy, sustainability, or behaviour change
  • Coaching, executive supervision, or facilitation
  • Digital systems, comms, or public affairs
  • Community organising, insight, or evaluation
  • Fluency in Welsh and/or translation skills

You don’t have to tick every box — but we are prioritising people who can bring relevant skills, knowledge, or leadership experience to help guide the organisation through change.

This is a voluntary role, with flexible commitment, full induction, and a supportive culture. You’ll attend around four board meetings per year, and we’ll work with you to ensure your contribution is meaningful and manageable.

We welcome and actively encourage applications from underrepresented groups, including people from racialised communities, disabled people, LGBTQ+ people, and those from working-class or low-income backgrounds.

If you're an experienced leader who wants to use your skills to build a fairer, greener Wales — we’d love to hear from you.
